Trick or Treat Safety Tips

Besides the usual considerations for carrying a light, staying to lighted areas, and watching out for traffic, this year brings additional considerations for preventing the spread of corona virus. Be mindful of the need to limit contact with those outside your immediate family group, whether collecting candy or giving it away. We don’t want to become a hot spot, even for a Reese’s.
  • If you are feeling ill in any way or think you may have had exposure stay home, and/or do not distribute candy.
  • If you are not giving out candy, have your front porch light off.
  • You may want to set up a table (that can be disinfected) at the sidewalk or other convenient area to offer treats. This can allow social distancing, prevent crowding, and provide for minimal physical contact. Consider using tape to mark spots on the sidewalk that are six feet apart.
  • Adults, the kids will be too excited about costumes and candy to remember social distancing, so help them with gentle reminders.
  • Be mindful of surroundings and look ahead to prevent getting too close to other trick-or-treaters. Take your time.
  • Be safe and have fun!
