In November 1977, the Village of Pinckney and Putnam Township resolved to jointly provide library services to their residents. The service agency is known as the Pinckney Community Public Library. Bylaws for the library indicate that it shall be overseen by a Board of Directors made up of five members appointed by the boards of Putnam Township (3 candidates) and the Village of Pinckney (2 candidates) to four-year terms.
