Garbage & Recycling
The Village of Pinckney takes pride in offering several environmentally responsible options for trash disposal. The quarterly charge for residential service is $37.50, plus a $6.50 charge for leaf and brush collection, and is included in your Village utility bill (see water and sewer for more details).
For a complete list of dates and services click on the link below.
Weekly trash pick-up is provided on Wednesdays by Granger Container. There is currently no limit to the number of cans or bags, but there is a 30 lb weight limit per bag. One large item per residence per week will be collected at no charge. Please contact Granger for any excessive amounts of trash, a large item or a problem with your pick-up. Phone: 517-372-2800.
Recycling and yard waste pick-up are also provided on alternating weeks, also on Wednesdays.
Recycling bins are available at Village Hall. Granger’s guide to recycling in Pinckney can be found here:
Please Note: Not seeing the “Recycling Truck?” Don’t be alarmed. Granger does “single line” recycling – this means the recyclables are picked up in one truck and sorted back the site.
All of these services are billed to you each quarter as part of your utility bill (which also includes water and sewer charges)
RECYCLING CENTER is now active at Putnam Township Hall, 3280 West M-36. This is a free service to Putnam Township and Village of Pinckney residents, and is provided by Western Washtenaw Recycling. Newspapers, cardboard, magazines, clear/green/brown glass, tin/aluminium, and #1-7 plastics are among the items they accept.
Yard waste collection runs April through November. Yard debris must be bagged in brown paper bags or in the paper yard waste bags available at most hardware stores. Please use this service for small twigs and yard debris. Curbside Brush removal will NOT pick up these small items. Limit of 10 bags per pick-up. Please do NOT use plastic bags for yard waste as Granger is unable to take yard waste in plastic bags.
Curbside Leaf Collection and Brush removal are handled by the Department of Public Works.
Curbside Leaf Collection Program starts the third week of October and will run through early December. Click here for details. Curbside Brush Removal (see below) is not available during this time, and will resume after leaf collection is done.
The Village also provides brush removal on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month (except during curbside leaf collection, see above). Please place brush and branches at the curb, cut ends facing the street. Trees and branches can be no larger than 10″ in diameter and no longer than 8 feet. No stumps.
